Westonbirt offers the flexibility of full boarding, flexi-boarding and day options.
Day students may stay one night a week free of charge (subject to availability) and on additional nights for a small extra cost. Day students are fully integrated into the boarding life of the school as all Houses are made up of full boarders, flexi-boarders and day students. Many day students choose to stay on a regular basis although they may not be full boarders.
Flexi-boarding is offered for up to 3 nights a week giving the benefit of students being able to concentrate on their studies at school during the week and complete their prep whilst also enabling them to be with their peers throughout the week.
For full boarders, evenings and weekends are bursting with activities. Recent trips have seen students visit Cadbury World, Harry Potter World and the theatre.
Regular exeat weekends enable boarders to also go home and spend time with their family and friends.
There are different boarding houses at Westonbirt depending on the age of the student.
Boarders all have their own space in the house where they can bring in their own bedding and posters, creating a homely and welcoming atmosphere.
Every student is enveloped into the house environment where they learn together how to live and work with each other, and the importance of trust and empathy in a caring and supportive environment.
Miss Catriona Crowley and her trusty sidekick Hosta the dog moved in to Beaufort House in September 2013 to take on the role of Housemistress. She has a background in Art and Design (specialising in metalwork and jewellery) and teaches Art at our prep school. She has worked in boarding for many years and is fully involved in the wider school life, helping with Learning Support, the Art department and organising activities and trips. Miss Crowley was a passionate Lacrosse player and has delighted in picking up her stick again to teach at Westonbirt.
Badminton House is run by Mrs Sally Price, who lives in the house with her husband Mr Sean Price, Headmaster of Westonbirt Prep. Mrs Price is also a teacher of English within Westonbirt School. Badminton House is home to students from year 9 to year 11 and provides a safe and happy environment in which to learn and grow.
Miss Sally Gould runs Dorchester House and has lived at Westonbirt for many years with her spaniel Merlot. Sally is always on hand to offer advice and guidance to the girls and can always be contacted at any time. Sally is very involved in all aspects of school life including the events programme at school which runs throughout the year.
Our Sixth Form have their own separate boarding house which is run by Westonbirt Head of Boarding Mrs Lisa Bradbury. Mrs Bradbury lives on site with her husband Mark and their daughter Ruby who attends Westonbirt. The Sixth Form students each have their own private study bedroom within the house and also have access to Sixth Form only communal areas including a sitting room, kitchen, study hub and bathroom areas and facilities. There is also a patio area and of course access during free time to our fully equipped leisure centre and pool.
